Disability Resources

For the Abled / the Disabled / the Aging Baby-boomers wanting to live in their own home!

Living with a daughter who is differently-abled, we are very familiar with the unique needs required for a physically disabled individual desiring to live in their own home. Everything from stationary and portable ramps, door openings, turn-around spaces, bathroom requirements (including roll-in showers, adapted cabinets, sinks, etc), accessible light switches, "smart" house or environmental controls (Sara uses a Nemo), automatic doors, ceiling lifts, elevators, general clearances, etc-- we have either dealt with it personally, assisted another individual with it, or come across it over the years. We are constantly keeping our eyes and ears open for ways to make life easier for our daughter and for us, too.

Our Pre-screening Service

Please let us know if you have any questions about adapting your own home or moving to a new home. If you feel you must move, we can assist you in locating the right home for you or a family member. If touring homes for purchase is difficult for you, let us pre-screen the homes, possibly take photos or videos for you to review, and then, when you have narrowed some choices down, assist you in getting inside to personally view the homes. We offer this service because we know how difficult it is for someone using a wheelchair or walker to physically get inside homes, not to mention the stamina it takes to do this.
Believe us, we know.  We have dealt with this issue on a daily basis.

Please let us know if we can help you or a family member in any way. We know everyone's situation is unique and we can adapt to your needs. In addition to our real estate practice of over 20 years, Judy is also a registered nurse and should be able to understand your particular concerns.

In the meantime, we have assembled a few links that we have found to be helpful over the years. These will be updated as we come across them. If you have any questions or have some suggestions, please email us or contact us at (502) 550-1826.
